It's Over...The Blog Tour That Is!

Stop Number Six on the Tour

I'm half-way through the blog tour and I'm excited. This is a good thing. I had a lot of fun reading responses and learning things on the last blog stop. This week, I'm the one being interviewed and I'm talking about the first book I sold to Loose Id. Santa's Elf.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

I've had a great week so far.

Halloween is my favorite holiday and the great thing is, in Nevada, it's a state holiday--Nevada was admitted to the Union on October 31, 1861. Several other states have been admitted on October 31st, but since I grew up in Nevada, that's the one I remember most.

I hope everyone has a great night tonight, don't drink too much and don't over indulge in the sweets.

A Quick Recap of the Week So Far...

Monday night I chatted live at Night Owl Reviews with fellow Midnight Seductions Author, Elizabeth Black. I always like the live chats. They move quickly and are always fun...the questions people ask are great.

Thank you everyone who showed up!

If you haven't seen my Twitter stream...I am a HUGE fan of The Blacklist. Love the way James Spader is just wickedly evil but has a core of integrity.
Favorite lines from this weeks episode:

I also bounce back and forth between The Voice and Sleepy Hollow. I know, weird combination, but I like the talent of the people on The Voice, but Orlando Jones is just wonderful on Sleepy Hollow. I enjoyed his performance as the museum tour holograph in The Time Machine with Guy Pearce. Just too bad this week was a rerun of the Sleepy Hollow premiere.

As for my blog tour,

I find it interesting sometimes how you have expectations for something and then when it doesn't quite come out the way you thought it would, you sit back and wonder "what did I do wrong?"

For a couple of the blog stops I've been on, I've taken the time to seriously think about the questions being asked by the blog host, only to visit the site and find out my "interviews" aren't even included in the posts. I enjoyed the questions and thought I had some good answers...I'll post the interviews that were missing if anyone would like to see them.

I do appreciate the great review for Rite of First Claim. 

I have to wonder though, do readers really just want to see the books available without knowing anything about the author? Would I be better off simply posting a scene or two on my blog for each of the books I have out?

Feel free to let me know your thoughts on the situation.

I'm very into movies but I've honestly never considered my Diablo Blanco Club books for a movie. And I'm even more at a loss when I try picking out the actors who'd play my characters.

So Many Changes and Not All of Them Good...

...But it's getting better all the time!

If you haven't seen or heard by now, I had to cut off my website, more for financial reasons than anything else. Good news is, the blog is still going strong...despite my having neglected it for the last couple of months **winces at the abundance of dead plant leaves strewn across the floor** Sorry about that. 

Anyway, tomorrow, September 30th, kicks off my very first Virtual Books tour. Every Monday between now and December 16th, I'll be hosted at twelve different sites talking about my Diablo Blanco Club series. At the end of the tour there will be a drawing for four great prizes. 

The grand prize is a Diablo Blanco Club messenger bag filled with e-copies of the first four books in the series: Unfair Advantage, Under Control, Rite of First Claim, and Santa's Elf; a few pens, some DBC post it notes, and a key chain wallet. Dragon Ugly Character Interviews -- Brent & Carissa

My friend and fellow author, Selena Illyria, was kind enough to introduce me to her characters, Brent and Carissa, from her latest book, Dragon Ugly.
Me being me, I just had to find out a bit more about these two...but getting a dragon and wolf shifter to behave in public is worse than trying to herd a hundred angry cats...

The Dragon's Lair is closed for the morning due to the cleaning crew trying to make things spotless for tonight's performance by The Snake. There's already people camped out, waiting in line to get in when the time comes. Getting past the fans had been like running a gauntlet, but the guy at the door had been expecting me.

Louisa directs me to the outdoor patio that's been set up for summer use before turning back to direct two of Brent's friends, Fletch and Tor, on making sure the bar is stocked and that everything is going according to plan. From my set at the table on the patio, I watch Brent and Carissa walk in, holding hands and smiling.

A red flush fills Brent's face and Carissa can't stop giggling. They settle down at my table on the outdoor patio. Selena Illyria trails in after them and takes a seat at the next table, as if determined to distance herself from the characters. She blushes then looks away several times, seeming uncomfortable.

While Brent and Carissa are whispering into each other's ears and shifting their chairs across from me, Se leans over and gestures toward me. "They've been doing the PDA thing all freaking morning. I try and get them to behave and Brent seems to take it as a green light to push the envelope. Carissa doesn't seem to mind too much, but I can tell her patience is wearing thin and she wants to get him home. ASAP."

Ah, a clear indication that this is going to be a quick and dirty (no pun intended) interview if I want to keep from shocking readers with...well, you know.

Once the couple had moved their chairs closer together and settled down, I jumped right into the questions.

Qwillia Rain: I can see you two have other things on your mind, so I promise this won't take long. I look first at Brent then Carissa. Describe your favorite pair of shoes. Why are they your favorite?

Brent: My brand new sneakers. They're so comfortable. Since I'm on my feet so much I need something that's not going to make me feel like I need to tear off my feet just to feel comfortable.

Carissa: My sexy black leather sandals with stiletto heels. I feel so sexy in them even if they are a pain to walk in sometimes.

Qwillia Rain: I look at Brent first. What's your favorite thing about Carissa?

Brent:  I love that she's so supportive of me. That she wants me for me and not --he waggles his eyebrows at Carissa-- 'cause I'm so damn sexy.

Qwillia Rain: I turn to Carissa and grin. What's your favorite thing about Brent?

Carissa: she rolls her eyes at Brent I love that he's so comfortable in his skin and that he loves all of me and that he makes me feel beautiful even when I've had a bad day.

Qwillia Rain: I look at Brent again. What do you like least or scares you about Carissa?

Brent: That I may drive her away if I can't control my dragon fully.

Qwillia Rain: And you Carissa? What do you like least or scares you about Brent?

Carissa: That he might lose interest in me because I might not be as beautiful as some of the women that he encounters on his job.
Brent reached over and squeezed Carissa's hand.

Brent: You're my mate, baby. No one else will ever lift me up, keep me grounded and love me like you do.
Carissa wiped away a tea and sniffled before regaining her composure.

Qwillia Rain: I hide my smile and make sure neither of them notice my quiet sigh..this is why I love romance! Ladies first this time. Carissa, describe what your job is and why you do it.

Carissa: I am part owner of an aromatherapy boutique called Scentify.

Brent: beaming with pride Which is awesome. You should try their relaxation kit. Ah, best night of sleep I've had in weeks, well, not the best. I only sleep well when you're in bed with me. Brent grins widely at Carissa. Anyway, I'm a waiter at Dragon's Lair Pub/Restaurant and an investor in the Velvet Palace Sex Shop.

Across from me, Carissa squirms in her seat as Brent reaches over and caresses her thigh.
An exasperated groan comes from the table behind us. Se leans forward and snaps her fingers a few times.

Selena Illyria: Focus guys!

Qwillia Rain: I fight not to laugh and hurry on to the next question before things get too out of hand. Coffee, tea, soda...?

Brent: Huh? Oh, right, I've had to lower my java intake so I'd say tea.

Carissa: Coffee, can't live without it. No coffee then you'll really see what a werewolf bitch looks like in the morning.

Brent: a nervous chuckle slips free as he nods Yeah, you don't want to see that.

Qwillia Rain: I can see the heat in both Carissa and Brent's eyes and I'm sure there aren't many more questions I'll be getting answers to, so I quickly toss out the next one. What addiction can you not live without?

Brent: Swimming naked. Does that count as an addiction?

Qwillia Rain: I nod. Yep, I would say it does. Carissa stays quiet, so I turn the next question her direction. If your life were a book, what would you prefer the author not tell readers about?

Carissa: her cheeks darkening with a blush Not telling them about my mother's odd notions about my sex life.

A look passed between the couple and a soft thump signaled Se giving up and dropping her head to her table. As if I didn't exist or the world around them had disappeared, Brent and Carissa moved into each other's arms and I closed my notepad. Turning to Se, I patted her on the back. "Don't worry, Se. The hormone levels will drop. Eventually."
She looked at me then glanced at the couple behind us. Her eyes went wide before she turned back. "I need a drink."
From the noises behind me, I had to agree. Then I added, "And chocolate."
Keeping my eyes averted, I followed Se back into The Dragon's Lair and headed for the bar.

Food Fun Friday...Rolo Chocolate Cookies

Oh, so yummy caramel filling!

It's been a while since I did a Food Fun Friday, but this morning, while I was waiting for my characters to get their dialogue figured out, I decided to make a new cookie. It came out so well I decided to share...and of course I took pictures of the process with blogging in mind. LOL

So here you go!


INGREDIENTS:

Ingredients-sugars in one bowl; flour, cocoa,
and baking soda in the larger bowl
I refrigerated the unwrapped Rolos overnight

2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c cocoa powder
1 tspn baking soda
1 c sugar
1 c packed brown sugar
1 c butter, softened
2 tspn vanilla
2 eggs
40 Rolo candies, unwrapped (approx. 5 rolls)
1 c chopped nuts (optional)
1 tspn sugar (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F

1.5-Butter and sugars ready to mix.

2. Beat sugars and butter until light and fluffy
(doesn't look too fluffy...maybe because of the brown sugar)

3. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.

4. Add flour, cocoa, and baking soda;
blend well.

4.5- Well-blended dough ready for the
refrigerator.

5. Refrigerate dough for 1-3 hours.

6. Roll 1 tbs of dough in palm of hand to
form a ball.

7. Press one Rolo into ball, covering it completely

8. Flatten bottom of cookie into palm of hand

9. Press flattened side of cookie onto
an ungreased cookie sheet

OPTIONAL

10. If putting the nuts on the cookies, press the unflattened side into 1 tbsp sugar mixed with 1 c chopped nuts, then press cookies, nut side up on ungreased cookie sheet 

10a. Bake for 9 minutes

10b. Bake for 9 minutes

12. Remove from oven, allow them to cool for 5 to 10 minutes

13. ENJOY!!

Next Book Coming Soon!

Just a little update for everyone!

My next book is a short story, coming out in late June from Loose Id, LLC. It's one of the Spring Flings and will probably be free for the first week or so, but I'll know more later.

Revealed: A Poker Posse Tale is a quick glimpse into how Vlad and Viola resolved their differences after Vlad discovered the secret Viola kept from him.

Just a little update

Over the last few months I've been watching the sales of some of my books on various distribution sites. It hasn't been pretty, to say the least. Yes, I recognize I should do more promotion, but I'm not that kind of person. I love my books. I love talking about my characters. But I also hate in your face advertising. If my books are good, word of mouth will sell them.

With that in mind, and because I can't see the logic in a trickle of sales for some books at other distributors, I'm doing that dreaded thing that some people may disagree with...I'm making one book, In A Lover's Silence, permanently exclusive to Amazon and for the next three months, the first book in my Diablo Blanco Club series, Unfair Advantage, will also be exclusive to Amazon.

This way, when I feel like offering the books for free for a day, I can.

For those who have never read Unfair Advantage, it will be free January 20th and 21st, the day before my new book, Poker Posse 1: Looking at Rose, will be released by Loose Id.

I'll make sure to update my website and the DBC page so readers won't be frustrated with the non-working links.

The cover of my next book, Looking At Rose. Rose is the first book in my Poker Posse series and will be released January 22nd by Loose Id, LLC.

Here's a little bit about the story:
